More about the Gulfstream G550
The Gulfstream G550 is an extensively improved derivative of the successful GV. Originally known as the GV-SP (Special Performance), the G550 is not only larger, but can also fly faster and farther than its predecessor. It received FFA certification in August 2003 and has since been a strong Gulfstream representative in long range business jets. As a result of its greater range over the GV, it has strong intercontinental capabilities and is considered to be an all-around superior enhancement. Its larger cabin affords passengers greater comfort, freedom of movement, and cargo space, while also allowing for a greater selection of available amenities. Gulfstream focused on lengthening the interior cabin as well as ensuring that the overall design optimized space better than the previous version. In addition to spacial optimizations, the G550 features a doorway that has been moved an additional two feet forward to provide more room. This combined with a smaller avionics system affords the G550 an additional 58 cubic feet over the GV.

Key Features of the Gulfstream G550
Like most aircraft created by Gulfstream, there are a variety of possible configurations available to optimize the use of space. Forward and aft galley configurations provide between five to six feet of additional cabin space. This abundance of interior cabin room allows the G550 to carry a maximum of 19 passengers. However, it is typically arranged to accommodate ten or less passengers for optimal comfort. Available amenities include a meeting/dining room, a stand-up shower, productivity suites, and a space for crew members to rest. With generous dimensions of 50' 1" cabin length, 7' 4" cabin width, and 6' 2" cabin height, there is plenty of space to stretch out and relax. Fourteen oval windows provide comforting natural lighting and are heated with a temperature control system which regulates the cabin conditions as well. Cabin pressure is maintained at an interior cabin altitude of 6,000 feet regardless of how high the aircraft soars. Additionally, the G550 employs a 100 percent fresh air system to ensure that all aspects of comfort are maintained throughout the flight.
Capabilities of the Gulfstream G550
Being able to travel 6,750 nautical miles at 506 ktas is a huge advantage to travelers who need to get from continent to continent quickly and comfortably. This aircraft has an impressive amount of power thanks mainly to its twin BMW/Rolls Royce BF 700-710-C4-11 turbofan engines. Like many other Gulfstream jets, the G550 utilizes PlaneView avionics, which provide the pilot with an unprecedented amount of control over the aircraft's systems. These advanced electronic systems are not only superior to the GV's instrumentation in terms of functionality and performance, but also in terms of ease and intuitive controls. Crystal-clear information is provided to the pilot via four 14" flat-panel monitors, which allow operators to have full situational awareness at control at all times. Additionally, a state-of-the-art I-NAV system provides clear-cut flight plans through the use of concise waypoints and routes. If you're looking for a reliable, comfortable, and spacious long-range performance aircraft, the G550 is an excellent option, blending innovation and modern technology with the time-tested formula the GV originally provided.
