More about the Global Express
Bombardier Aerospace began research for an ultra long range jet in 1991 and, in October of that year, the Bombardier Global Express was announced at the NBAA convention. Conceptual designs were developed and in December of 1993, the Global Express program was officially launched. The Global Express first flew in October of 1996. This private business jet features a supercritical airfoil design, which helps to improve takeoff and landing performance as well as all around improved efficiency. Additionally, cabin noise is significantly less noticeable with this model due to the engines, their placement, and cabin insulation.

Key Features of the Global Express
The cabin of the Global Express was designed for passenger comfort and is typically configured to seat thirteen passengers with four crew members. In a high-density situation, this private business jet is capable of accommodating a maximum of nineteen passengers. The cabin of the Bombardier Global Express measures 48.4 feet in length, reaches 6.3 feet in height, and stretches a maximum of 8.2 feet in width with a floor width of 6.9 feet. This private business jet features 185 cubic feet of external baggage storage capable of accommodating 1,000 pounds of luggage. With a maximum cabin pressure differential of 10.0 psi, the Global Express is capable of maintaining a sea level cabin altitude at an altitude of 26,500 feet.
Capabilities of the Global Express
The Bombardier Global Express comes equipped with two BMW/Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20 turbofan engines. Each engine is rated at 14,750 pounds of thrust at takeoff. With these engines, this private business jet is capable of climbing to an altitude of 37,000 feet in just 19 minutes. The Global Express requires 5,820 feet of runway to take off at sea level on a standard day. At an airport with an elevation of 5,000 feet, this takeoff requirement increases to 7,880 feet of runway. With four passengers, the Global Express needs only 2,190 feet of runway to land. This private business jet features a maximum certificated service ceiling of 51,000 feet and an impressive transoceanic range of 5,915 nautical miles. For a flight to a further destination, the Bombardier Global Express is capable of maintaining an airspeed of 488 knots at an altitude of 43,000 feet in a long range cruise configuration. For a swifter flight, the Global Express is capable of maintaining an airspeed of 499 knots at an altitude of 41,000 feet in a high-speed cruise configuration.
Incorporated into the engines of this private business jet is a full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system. This system is designed to both reduce pilot workload and ensure maximum efficiency is attained from the engines. The avionics system selected for the Global Express is the Honeywell Primus 2000XP avionics suite. This advanced avionics system utilizes six seven inch by eight inch display screens, which display information relative to flight instrumentation and the environment. Some instrumentation incorporated in this avionics package include a GPS receiver, navigation and communication radios, and a triple LASEREF IV inertial reference system.
